The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, commonly known as WIC, is a federally funded nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy. Click on detailed description for more information on the WIC Program.



WIC helps:
  • moms eat right during pregnancy and get to prenatal care early so their babies are born healthy.
  • pregnant women learn about how to breastfeed their babies.
  • moms breastfeed their babies.
  • families learn about how and what foods to feed their babies and children.
  • families get linked with other services that they may need like immunizations and health care.


  • Women who are pregnant or just had a baby and children under five years of age;
  • Families with low to moderate incomes including working, single-parent and foster families; and
  • Women and children who need better nutrition.




ITCA targets services to American Indians living in Arizona. Services are provided through 11 tribal health departments and one urban Indian health center.
