What Is WIC?

WIC is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well, learn about nutrition, and stay healthy. Nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and help accessing health care are provided to moderate to low-income women, infants, and children. (click here for a more detailed description)

What Can WIC Offer My Family?

  • Checks that can be used to purchase healthy foods such as milk, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal, dry beans and peas, peanut butter, whole grains and fruit and vegetables (click here to see a complete list of foods offered through the WIC Program)
  • Information about nutrition and health to help you and your family eat well and be healthy
  • Support and information about breastfeeding your baby
  • Help in finding health care and other community services
  • Breast pumps to help support breastfeeding mothers
Can My Family Enroll In WIC?

  WIC is for all kinds of families: married & single parents,   working or not working.

  • If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal guardian of a child under 5 years of age, you can apply for your child.
  • If you are a woman who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or has a baby up to six months old, you can apply for yourself.

About ITCA WIC:

ITCA targets services to American Indians living in Arizona. Services are provided through 11 tribal health departments and one urban Indian health center.
