PURPOSE:
To assist Tribal, urban American Indian, and IHS dental programs in the Phoenix and Tucson Service Areas in supporting clinical services, effective program management
and prevention activities.
Services that can be provided to Tribes at no cost:
- Community presentations on all aspects of dental health for children, adults and elders
- Community dental health surveys to assess the need for expanded dental service
- Unmet dental needs assessments
- Oral cancer screenings for adults and elders
- Chlorhexidine (anti-bacterial) mouth rinse programs for elders
- School brushing programs - all supplies provide
- Denture cleaning supplies - brushes, denture cups, cleaner
- Dental prevention supplies - tooth brushes, tooth paste, dental floss
- Dental health brochures and fact sheets on a variety of topics
- Water testing for fluoride levels
- Fluoride supplement programs
- Xylitol chewing gum programs for young mothers to prevent cavities in children
- Saliva testing to determine bacterial levels in mothers
- Fluoride varnish programs for infants and children
- Train Tribal members to become dental health educators
- Dental consulting services
- Dental health programs for diabetics
