Event
The Inter Tribal
Council of Arizona, Inc. (ITCA) will be hosting a Volunteer Income
Tax Assistance (VITA) site at its office located at 2214 N. Central
Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. Volunteers will provide free tax preparation
services to individuals and families with low-to-moderate income.
Last year, volunteers
at the ITCA VITA site filed tax returns for low-income working families
to claim tax benefits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
The EITC is the largest federal tax benefit program that provides
over $32 billion to eligible families. However, approximately 25%
of eligible families do not claim the EITC. On average, families
may receive $1,800 in EITC and as high as $4,536. As a volunteer,
you can help eligible families claim the EITC in addition to other
tax benefits such as the Child Tax Credit and Education Tax Credit.
The ITCA VITA
site will be operating on Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 12:00pm
for 11 weeks beginning February 2, 2008 and continue through April
12, 2008.
If you are interested
in participating as a volunteer at the ITCA VITA site or have any
questions, please contact Verna Johnson at (602) 739-0703 or email
at johnsov@azdhs.gov.
